KEY PRIORITIES
1. Making Guelph more affordable for everyone:
Housing is the largest expense for most people in Guelph. By protecting renters (33% of Guelph) from unreasonable evictions and rent hikes, we can make this city more affordable for everyone.
2. Protecting our most vulnerable residents:
We can end homelessness (~325 people) in Guelph. By funding deeply affordable and supportive housing projects, alongside homelessness diversion programs, we can protect our most vulnerable residents.
3. Focusing on sustainable land use and environmental stewardship
Fossil fuel companies need to pay their fair share. Enbridge provides the fuel for more than half the greenhouse gas burned in Guelph. Yet, they avoid paying millions of dollars a year towards their fair share of infrastructure costs, fees or taxes (compared to other utilities: emergeguelph.ca). We must end all subsidization of fossil fuel companies in our city.
